This is not a ring for people who use the phrase “just a little something.”
From my private collection comes this spectacular OOAK Wearable Art Statement Ring — new, unworn, and measuring approximately 4.5" x 4.25". When worn, it commands a substantial portion of the hand and has absolutely no intention of going unnoticed.
At the heart of the piece is a dramatic Sonora cabochon mounted onto a larger Sonora slab, creating layers of turquoise, blue-green, rust, copper-red, black and earthy mineral coloration. I further embellished the composition with a rough smoky quartz crystal and three sweeping rows of sparkling rhinestones, creating a collision of raw geology and unapologetic glamour.
Sonora, also known as Sonora Sunrise or Sonora Sunset, has become increasingly difficult and expensive to obtain. The material was mined in Mexico, and available supplies are now limited — one reason pieces of this size and character command increasingly significant prices.
The ring is mounted on two substantial, shiny gold-tone adjustable bands. The bands are wide, comfortable and secure and will accommodate most finger sizes. Those with exceptionally petite fingers may prefer to use a ring guard or a small piece of moleskin beneath the band for a closer fit.
This is wearable sculpture: oversized, architectural, mineral-rich and gloriously excessive.
