Five immense beads believed to be copal amber, predominantly yellow with subtle undertones of warm orange, alternate with equally commanding Tibetan-style copper repoussé beads embellished with elaborate floral and ornamental detailing. The believed-to-be copal amber beads range from approximately 1.5 inches to 1.75 inches, creating a necklace with extraordinary scale, rhythm and sculptural presence.
The yellow resin beads floated during a home saltwater flotation test; however, flotation alone cannot definitively authenticate the material or distinguish copal from mature amber. The beads have not been independently tested by a gemological laboratory and are therefore represented as "believed to be copal amber."
Pairs of burnished gold-tone, undulating “potato chip” spacers separate the larger components and introduce subtle movement throughout the design. Despite its monumental appearance, the necklace is surprisingly lightweight and comfortable to wear.
This non-adjustable necklace measures approximately 22 inches end to end. Because of the exceptional diameter of the beads, it wears more like a conventional 20-inch necklace. It closes with gold-tone hardware and a petite lobster-claw clasp.
